Jennifer L. Beck (formerly Jennifer L. Miller) has been a litigation and business attorney in West Virginia since 2009. Ms. Beck has represented accountants, dentists, business organizations, governmental entities, health care facilities, hospitals, lawyers, nurses, nursing homes, physicians, physician assistants, and other professionals in a broad range of legal disputes and business matters. Ms. Beck has litigated matters before the West Virginia Magistrate Courts, the West Virginia Circuit Courts, the West Virginia Business Court Division, the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the United States Bankruptcy Court, and the United States District Courts. Ms. Beck has defended numerous physicians in malpractice litigation and through trial in West Virginia Circuit Courts. In addition, she defended an accounting malpractice action in the West Virginia Business Court’s first jury trial. Ms. Beck argued before West Virginia’s three-judge Mass Litigation Panel on behalf of her client, an international hospitality corporation. She previously defended a health care provider in an adversary proceeding before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. Ms. Beck has also represented physicians in administrative licensing proceedings before the West Virginia Board of Medicine and a dentist before the West Virginia Board of Dentistry. Ms. Beck was named to the Super Lawyers West Virginia Rising Stars List for 2019.
Ms. Beck is used to thinking “outside the box” to find creative solutions. She provides her clients with solid legal advice and strategic planning in relation to claims and ongoing litigation, risk management, contractual negotiations, dispute resolution, risk transfer, compliance with the law, and practice development. She also has an interest in drafting and lobbying for legislation to assist her clients. Ms. Beck was named to the Super Lawyers West Virginia Rising Stars List for 2019.
Originally from Southern California, Ms. Beck has over 20 years of prior health care and business experience. After attending UCLA, she developed a health care services and instruction business in the Los Angeles area. In 1998, Ms. Beck relocated to West Virginia and developed West Virginia businesses providing health care services and fitness services. In 2006, Ms. Beck fulfilled a long-time goal of attending law school, earning her J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2009 with a class rank of 20 out of 152 (top 13% of her class).
